Mixed-Race Population by Region
Nationally, 40 percent of the mixed-race population is concentrated in the West, according to 2000 Census estimates. Twenty-seven percent live in the South, 18 percent in the Northeast and 15 percent in the Midwest. Fourteen states reflect mixed-race population percentages that surpass the national average of 2.4 percent.
The 10 U.S. cities of 100,000 people or more with the highest concentration of mixed-race residents are starred.
